1) Tell us about your background and how/why you started the company.

My co-founder, Atreya, and I started the company in college when we showed up to in-person recruiting events and noticed large companies were using paper sign in sheets, while student orgs on our campus had digital ways to recruit. A recruiter at a consulting firm took us up on using the software we had built for student orgs for their own recruiting. In preparing the contract for this recruiter, the law firm helping us learned about what we had built and suggested they should use it for their own recruiting, too. As we dug in further to law firms, we realized that despite law firms’ talent driving their business, the software they had supporting talent acquisition was clunky or non-existent. Since then, we’ve focused in on the legal industry, where talent is how the law firm business grows.

2) What are the key problems you are addressing and how you are delivering value to customers through software workflows?

  1. Law firms have to compete more than ever for the best talent in a narrow, credentialed talent market. Law firms have long used clunky software, or none at all, to manage the acquisition of their most important asset – their people! BigLaw firms can no longer afford to move slowly against competitors who are paying premiums for the best lawyers to join their firms. We’ve delivered a beautiful ATS with integrated features made just for law firms. 
  2. Recently, Flo Recruit Forward launched – the destination for legal talent to network, research firms, and land jobs. Forward has taken off with law students at the elite Top 35 law schools, and we’re now charting a new journey where the legal industry is not only using our software to manage the hiring process, but also to hire top legal talent directly. Our vertical approach gives us a real edge in helping the right, qualified talent find top employers.

3) What have you enjoyed or what do you look forward to about working with Tau Ventures? 

Tau moves quickly and is always responsive. They’re constantly offering valuable connections to people in their network. In a relationship driven industry like ours, I know how valuable these connections can be to opening doors. I’ve found their network extends past the Bay Area, as well. As a startup serving clients nationally, this is a cherry on top!
